### $124 trillion will change hands by 2048. Women will receive the majority of it.  

 

We are living through the largest generational transfer of wealth in recorded history. Over the next two decades, Baby Boomers and older generations will pass an estimated $124 trillion in assets to heirs, widows, and charities. And one pattern has already emerged clearly: women are receiving the majority of it. 

 

By 2030, women in the United States alone are expected to control $34 trillion in financial assets up from $7.3 trillion just a decade ago. Women now control 32% of global wealth, a figure that continues to climb through inheritance, longer life expectancy, and rapidly growing earning power. Within five years, that share is projected to reach 38% of all investable assets $30 trillion in financial power. 

 

**Why this is happening now**

Three forces are converging simultaneously. First, inheritance, women outlive men by an average of five to six years, which means the majority of inherited wealth from couples flows to women first. Second, earnings, women are reaching senior leadership and ownership positions in record numbers, with women-owned businesses growing 12% between 2022 and 2025 and now generating $2.8 trillion in revenue in the US alone. Third, investment, younger women are entering financial markets at higher rates than any previous generation, with millennials and Gen Z women showing strong preferences for impact, ESG, and values-based investing. This is not incremental progress. It is a structural realignment of who holds economic power  and it is happening faster than most institutions are prepared for. 

 

**What women do differently with wealth**

The data on how women invest is consistent across studies: they prioritise resilience, purpose, and long-term thinking. They are more likely to direct capital toward sustainable growth, family security, and social impact. They give more philanthropically, women control a disproportionate share of charitable giving relative to their wealth. And they build differently, when women acquire businesses or make investment decisions, they tend to hire more women, creating a compounding effect through the ecosystem. This is not a soft story about values. It is a hard story about capital allocation. When $30 trillion moves into the hands of investors who prioritise impact and long-term thinking, the cost of capital for green infrastructure, women-led companies, and purpose-driven businesses changes. The whole market moves.

The greatest transfer of wealth in history is going to women.

Feminvest Ventures celebrates the successful EUR 2.5 million Seed financing of portfolio company Digiclean, having been the company's first investor and an early believer in founder Charlotte Stigen Låstberg's vision to modernise industrial cleaning through data and AI. And for Feminvest Ventures' investors: the value of our initial position has doubled.

 

The Seed round is co-led by Unconventional Ventures and Almi Invest GreenTech, with participation from S-E-Bankens Utvecklingsstiftelse, Impact Shakers and Feminvest Ventures. The new capital will enable Digiclean to accelerate product development and expand commercially across Sweden and Europe.

Ett företags mest värdefulla tillgång är ofta något du inte kan ta på. Det handlar inte nödvändigtvis om själva produkten eller tjänsten, utan om de rättigheter som ligger bakom: den exklusiva rätten till namnet som kunderna förknippar med dig, designen som gör dig igenkännbar eller koden och kunskapen som ingen konkurrent får kopiera eller använda. 

 

Med rätt skydd är immateriella rättigheter, ofta kallade ”IP”, både ett skydd och en värdedrivare. De fungerar som ett skydd mot kopiering och mot konkurrenter som vill dra nytta av det du har byggt upp. Samtidigt kan de driva värde i mötet med investerare, köpare och partners, där de immateriella rättigheterna ofta är bland det första som granskas när någon bedömer vad ditt företag är värt.

För dig som entreprenör innebär det att något av det viktigaste du kan göra i ett tidigt skede är att förstå vad du faktiskt äger, vilket värde det har och hur du skyddar det. 

 

### Immateriella rättigheter är mer än patent 

 

Immateriella rättigheter förknippas ofta med patent, som ger en tidsbegränsad ensamrätt till en lösning på ett tekniskt problem. Patent är dock bara en av flera kategorier av immateriella rättigheter, och för de flesta företag är detta inte relevant. 

 

För de flesta entreprenörer är andra rättigheter mer aktuella, till exempel: 

 

**Varumärke** – namnet och logotypen som gör att kunderna känner igen dig och som kan skyddas genom en varumärkesregistrering. Kom dock ihåg att inte alla varumärken kan skyddas, och det är viktigt att vara medveten om vilket namn man väljer. Ett icke-beskrivande och unikt namn ger ett starkare skydd. 

 

**Design** – den visuella utformningen av din produkt, som kan skyddas genom en designregistrering. 

 

**Upphovsrätt** – kod, text och bilder skapade av människor med en viss grad av originalitet är automatiskt skyddade mot kopiering och obehörig användning. 

 

**Företagshemligheter eller annan affärsinformation** – kundlistor, metoder och know-how kan ge konkurrensfördelar så länge de hålls hemliga. 

 

Allt detta är värden som kan skyddas, men på olika sätt och med olika åtgärder. Tänk därför igenom vad din verksamhet faktiskt bygger på och hur du säkrar det bäst från start. Allt kan inte registreras, men där det är möjligt bör du överväga det. En registrerad rättighet är alltid enklare att upprätthålla än en oregistrerad. 

 

Vissa misstag går inte heller att rätta till i efterhand. Om du offentliggör en teknisk uppfinning i en pitch, en artikel eller på en mässa innan du har lämnat in en patentansökan, kan du ha förlorat möjligheten att få patentskydd. Väntar du för länge med att registrera varumärket eller köpa domänen riskerar du att någon annan hinner före. 

 

### Säkerställ äganderätt och skydda konfidentiell information 

 

En fråga som lätt förbises är om företaget faktiskt äger och fritt kan använda det som skapas i eller för företaget. Vem äger koden som utvecklaren skrev på frilansbasis? Logotypen som designern levererade? Bilden som den anställda tog? 

 

Utan bra avtal är svaret förvånansvärt ofta att företaget äger mindre än det tror, vilket kan få stora konsekvenser. I värsta fall försvinner företagets värdegrund. 

 

Anställningsavtal och konsultavtal med tydliga IP-klausuler, som säkerställer att företaget äger och fritt kan använda och ändra det som utvecklas, bör därför vara bland de första dokumenten ett företag får på plats. 

 

Detsamma gäller konfidentialitet. Alla som företaget delar känslig information med, oavsett om det är anställda, konsulter eller potentiella samarbetspartners, bör vara bundna av tydliga sekretessförpliktelser. Utan sådana förpliktelser är risken större att din information sprids. 

 

### IP-fällor vid användning av AI 

 

Med framväxten av AI är det ännu viktigare att vara medveten om sina egna immateriella rättigheter. AI-verktyg kan vara fantastiska hjälpmedel som effektiviserar arbetet i ett företag, men de bör användas med försiktighet. 

 

Det är särskilt viktigt att tänka på att det AI producerar kan bygga på befintligt material och att rent AI-genererat innehåll inte ger dig upphovsrätt till det som har skapats. Det innebär att du riskerar att göra intrång i andras rättigheter, samtidigt som andra i princip fritt kan kopiera och använda det du har skapat. 

 

Kom ihåg att använda AI som ett verktyg, inte som en ersättning för dina egna kreativa bedömningar, och se till att det slutliga resultatet präglas av dina egna val och din egen bearbetning. 

 

Var också försiktig med att dela konfidentiell information och företagshemligheter med externa AI-tjänster där det är oklart hur materialet hanteras eller om det används för vidare träning.
