Meet Emma Bloom, Event & Partnership Manager at Feminvest ❤️
- Emma, you have just joined the Feminvest team, so exciting! Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a curious, freedom-loving person who can be found out in nature when I’m not working. My personal motto is ” Do good for people and environment ” and I try to live by it as much as possible.
- Can you share your thoughts on getting more women into investing?
It should be as natural to take care of our finances as it is to brush our teeth. I think it’s important to lower the bar and see that it’s not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. There are funds and robots to help you place the money on the stock market if you don’t know how to invest or what to buy. Also, to expand the mind of what investing is. If stocks and funds are not your cup of tea maybe real estate or other kinds of investments are. In fact it’s actually really exciting to see what options are out there. My advice is to have fun with it and go on a treasure hunt, who knows what you might find.
- How did you get into investing?
I started my investment journey rather late in life. Sure I had always had a savings account and had made some good apartment deals throughout the years but my serious investing journey started with a slowly growing interest in the stock market and it was when I saw an interview with a female investor who talked about how to invest in a way that was both good for the planet and profitable at the same time that I took the step into the stock market. After some time investing in both funds and stocks, I decided to expand my portfolio and now I’m developing as an investor. I think there is always more to learn and I intend to continue to do so as long as I live.
- Do you have advice on how to explore taking additional financial risk?
Always listen to yourself first. I think that taking a financial risk should be bold but calculated and most of all in tuned with who you are. In other words, find your “investor personality” and act accordingly. Stretch the limits little by little. Go from one challenge to another. Make it bigger, bolder each time. You’ll gain experience and confidence as you go along. Trust yourself. Before you know it you have gone to places you never thought you would.
- If one wants to get in contact with you?
Connect with me on LinkedIn or send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org . I’m situated in Gothenburg so if you want to grab a coffee, just reach out and we’ll make it happen.
- We have a concept called “health is wealth” in Feminvest – you practice that in multiple ways. How do you proactively work with “work/life balance” (as if it existed? )
I love the concept of “health is wealth”. For me it’s like the thing you hear in the airplane before take off ” put your oxygen mask on first and then help the person next to you”. When you take care of yourself you create an abundant life for yourself which will actually help others more. Remember you can’t give to others if your cup is empty. For me I practice a lot of self nurturing by being outdoors, mixing movement with stillness. And I take regular digital breaks which means I turn off my phone and other gadgets and go outside only listening to nature’s sounds. It doesn’t mean long periods of solitude meditating on an island ( although I went on a magical silence retreat to Bali a couple of years ago so I do recommend those as well) , rather regular mini-breaks in my everyday life. I think it’s very healthy for all of us. I love being in the woods, by the sea or in the mountains. As long as it’s outdoors I’m good. This summer before I joined Feminvest for example I spent almost 2 months in the woods (come rain or shine) enjoying nature’s abundance and listening inwards to what my soul was telling me. I followed it and it landed me here at Feminvest.
